If you follow me on Instagram, you will have noticed lots of pictures of the same chair being re-upholstered. Although I haven’t said much about it (I will, give me time), I’ve been studying traditional upholstery for the last year. A complete beginner, I’ve worked through several exercises, and one main chair.
Any of you up in London, please pop along to the Cass Summer Show. It’s a fantastic, huge show, exhibiting work from the Art and Design faculties. Alongside Upholstery, you’ll also find Fashion and Textiles, Sculpture, Fine Art, Musical Instruments (there’s a course to make guitars!!) and many others. It’s free to get in, runs until the 21st June, and is right next to Aldgate East tube station, so you can go visit Brick Lane or Whitechapel Art Gallery when you’re done!
